The Zelda Timeline's Downfall split occurs after Link is defeated by Ganon in Ocarina of Time, but does he actually die in the conflict?
When fans talk about how confusing and inconsistent the official Zelda timeline is, theyre almost always really talking about the Downfall Timeline. After Ocarina of Time, the chronology of the Zelda series split into three separate timelines. These were the Child Timeline, named after Link who was a child in the original period of the game; the Adult Timeline, named after Link having become an adult after aging seven years during that timelines events; and the Downfall Timeline (also known as Fallen Hero Timeline), a timeline created after Ganon defeated Link.
