The Indiana Jones franchise is one of nostalgia. Those who remember the release of the original Raiders of the Last Arc have a strong affinity for the saga and look back on it with great fondness. Every few years LucasFilm attempts to revive the series either on the big screen or via alternative mediums. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny renewed some interest in the Harrison Ford-led franchise, and it made perfect sense to attempt to capitalize on that momentum.
