The Star Wars Disney+ streaming show, The Acolyte, has slowly built a core audience that is enjoying this new era of the galaxy's timeline. The Lucasfilm project is diving deep into The High Republic era, which was originally set out in novels, comics, and video games. However, while The High Republic is inspired by a brand new initiative that was set to redefine Disney's publishing and encourage fans to take a wider look at the expansive materials that support the TV shows and movies, it is not a completely original idea. In fact, a lot of work had already been put into setting up a different era of the Star Wars timeline, that acts as a precursor to the prequel series. It was called The Old Republic, and for now, it seems to exist very loosely in canon.
